HONG KONG has been hit by a massive rainstorm.
In Asia, we don’t get light spring showers. We get SERIOUS rain. Here’s proof:
Some comments from today by friends, readers, and Facebook contacts:
Sally Andersen: “It's hard to sleep with a dog sitting on your head. Opal decided it was the safest place.”
Leela Devi Panikar: “Hope all friends in Hong Kong are fine. Don and I are unscathed but few disasters in our village, homes flooded due to collapsed retaining walls and clogged roof drainage.”
Karuna Karunakaran: “Flood!!!! Woke up to find two inches of water in the ground floor.”
(This pic from AFP is actually from Typhoon Fengshen, but it looks just the same today)
Pete Spurrier: “Almost constant lightning, and half an hour of the loudest thunder I've ever heard. I should put some rousing classical music on, and conduct the storm.”
Mark A. Sharp “It certainly is the most impressive ‘light show by Buddha’ as they say in Thailand.”
Tom Carter “Just my luck I schedule my HK holiday right in the middle of a storm.”
Deepika Shetty: “They mean it when they say ‘black rain’.”
(Pic above was taken just now by George Russell)
Marvin Chui (a school kid) “MY PRAYER IS ANSWERED!!!!”
Sille Sorensen (another school kid) I LOVE U BLACK RAIN XOXOXO
Lillian Lam: “Black rain = no school all day!! Hooray!” (This is funnier when you realize that Lillian is not a school kid but a school teacher.)
Keep safe and dry my friends.
